Custom work almost always starts with a consultation rather than the tattoo itself. It's where you talk through the idea, placement and size, and the artist works out how long it'll take. Flash designs are pre-drawn and ready to go, which usually makes them quicker and cheaper to book. Custom work is drawn for you, so it needs design time before the appointment and costs more. Bring reference images to a consultation if you have a clear idea — it saves a lot of back and forth.
Sittings and sizing
